GENERAL LEAGUE RULES - Jan '19
League Name: THURSDAY MORNING DOUBLES 2019-2020
This league is to abide to all the B.T.B.A & USBC rules except for the following additional league rules.
Before the start of each league it is recommended that players and officials alike refer to B.T.B.A & USBC rules and regulations for more guidance.
Start Time:
The league will commence at 11.00 hrs for practice on Thursday each week. Starting on 05-09-19.
Registration:
A maximum of 2 players may be registered for each team. Substitutes will be allowed.
NOTE: new bowlers must be registered with the secretary by 10.30 before the league commences bowling.
Withdrawal of Team:
When a team or individual withdraws without giving a satisfactory reason or is expelled from the league for sufficient cause it forfeits any and all fees paid.
Handicaps:
Handicaps shall be calculated on the difference between each individual’s average and 200 scratch. The handicap is to be 90% of the difference. Averages from the previous season will be carried over to the new season. New bowlers to the league will establish new averages commencing week 1
Points:
This league will use standard team points.
Points awarded to winner of each TEAM game with handicap: 2 points
Points awarded for a draw each TEAM game with handicap: 1 point
Points awarded to winner of each TEAM series with handicap: 2 points
Points awarded for a draw each TEAM series with handicap: 1 point
Total points available each match: 8 points
Fees:
Each player shall pay, to the treasurer the sum of £6.50 in respect of £5.00 lineage and £1.50 Prize fund before bowling each week. The prize fund for the final 2 weeks league shall be paid to the treasurer by week 3. Absentees are liable for Prize funds. Lineage for pre bowl and post bowl Shall be paid directly to Astra |Bowl.
Prizes:
The treasurer shall be responsible for preparing a prizes distribution list, which is to be submitted to the board of directors by week 5.
Legal line up:
A legal line up for match play is 1 regular team member. In the event of no substitute being available, a ‘Blind’ score shall be used for the absentee bowler. A team may apply a pre-bowl or post-bowl score for an individual absent bowler.
Pre-Bowl: Post-bowl:
Absentee Team must agree with opposing team to either play with a legal line up of 1 on scheduled date or agree a date for a pre-bowl/post-bowl.
in which case the absentee team must inform
* The League Secretary/ President
* The Astra Bowl (897289)
* The opposing team captain.
Note: if all three parties are not informed of the pre bowl/post bowl, the opposing team is to bowl the match on the day scheduled the pre bowl/ post-bowl game will be declared a forfeit.
Pre-Bowls made by either team or Individual Must be declared to the Astra Bowl before bowling commences full league rules apply with a ten-minute practice then play 3 consecutive games.
Should more than 1 pre-bowl game be bowled, games shall be used for scheduled matches in chronological order.
Pre-bowls/Post bowls must be played, not exceeding 21 days the scheduled date. (any pre-bowl played for the 2019- 20 season,
before the new rules are agreed - shall stand.)
Difficulties in rearranging matches are to be notified to the league secretary who will set a date and notify each team captain to this effect. If an opposing team wishes to play the pre-bowl/post-bowl match on their own then this can be done as an envelope game. All pre-bowl/post-bowl matches must be played before the last 2 weeks of the league.
Ties:
If a tie occurs for any place in the league the position will be decided by total pinfall (highest pinfall = highest place). If both points and pinfall are the same then a one game roll off will be played to decide the winner.
Blind Scores:
The blind score used will 10 pins below bowler’s average scratch.
NOTE: the use of blind scores to be used in the case of absentee.
Tardy Players:
A player who has arrived after their team has started; the player shall be permitted to begin bowling provided the opposing team has not completed the 3RD frame of that game. After which the player cannot join until the next game.
Substitution:
After a game has started no change shall be made in order of players during the match (3 games) except in cases of injury or an emergency and at the discretion of the league secretary.
Injury and Emergency:
When a player is unable to complete a game because of disability, injury or emergency, the team of which they are a member may introduce a qualified substitute to complete the game.
Note *If a qualified substitute is not available the player may count their actual score for the frames bowled plus 1 10th of the blind score for each remaining frame.
NOTE: An emergency is at the discretion of the League Secretary/President
Behaviour of Members:
League members are expected to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner and must refrain from creating any undue noise or disturbance, which will in anyway distract any league member's attention while bowling is in progress. League bowlers are to give way to the person bowling on their right if they are on the approach ready to bowl.
Special League Rules:
There will be no maximum handicap.

- Registration of new players is not allowed within 4 weeks prior to the end of the league.
- No cancellations are allowed 2 weeks prior to the end of the league.
- A team must bowl within 20 pins of the team average to win the points in a bye/forfeit match.
- Should a team fail to inform, opposing team, Astra Bowl, and secretary of an anticipated absentee any pre-bowl will be forfeited.
- Prize fund – bowlers are liable for forfeited matches.
There will be no maximum handicap.
